I’ve been going to Manuel’s, the downtown location back then, since the late ’80s. I remember back in the day, downtown Austin was basically a ghost town on Sundays. As a single guy, Sundays were pretty lonely. I made it a hobby to go to Manuel’s about 2 o’clock every Sunday. The same waiter waited on me. His name was Atticus. I would then walk the empty warehouse district just to see if anything was going on. It didn’t for quite some time but I continued to make it downtown on Sundays even though I lived up North. It was always worth the trip and it made me feel great. Greatly miss the downtown location but the food up North is the same and the quality and flavors never disappoint
