I had the privilege of attending an unforgettable fundraising event at Manuels, a renowned Mexican restaurant in Austin, Texas. This wasn’t just any fundraiser; it was an event that blended delicious food, great company in the spirit of giving, all and support of the women and children in Guatemala through my nonprofit, Finding Freedom through Friendship. From the moment I arrived at Manuels I could feel the warmth and hospitality that the owners, who had graciously hosted the event, had put into every detail. The restaurants vibrant atmosphere was alive with the sounds of laughter and conversation, all wrapped in the inviting aromas of authentic Mexican cuisine. It was clear this night was about more than just enjoying a meal, it was about coming together for a greater cause. The highlight of the evening came when Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer himself, made an appearance. His presence was inspiring as he showed his dedication to helping animals which resonated with the cause of our nonprofit, focusing on creating sustainable transformation for women and children in developing countries. Cesar shared how important it is to give back and uplift vulnerable communities, making the evening even more special. As the night progressed the generosity of everyone in the room was palpable. The auction, beautifully orchestrated by the owners, was filled with energy and excitement. People bid enthusiastically with many local and patrons stepping up to contribute. By the end of the night we had raised $45,000 for the women and children in Guatemala. It was a heartwarming moment realizing how a single evening could bring so much hope and support to those in need. Manuels made this possible, not just hosting the event, but by infusing it with their passion for community and connection. The food, the people, and the cause all came together in a perfect blend creating a night I will never forget. I left the restaurant with a deep gratitude for everyone who attended and contributed to such a meaningful cause.
