#LoveManuels #Manuels40th #HappyAnniversary to our favorite restaurant! This is a love story 40 years in the making! I was job hunting in 1985 and stopped in at Manuel’s on Congress. The owners happened to be at the bar when I walked in. We chatted for a few minutes and I wrote my name & phone number on a bev-nap. As I left the restaurant, I thought the likelihood of that bev-nap ending up in the trash was close to 100%. Surprisingly, a few days later I got a call & a job offer! It changed my life FOREVER!! Within my first few days on the job, I met the nicest people. They were welcoming and helpful and FUN!! The food was crazy good and the kitchen was spotless–cleaner than mine at home and I’m kind of a clean freak!! But the best part, the most unexpected thing – LOVE at first sight!!! I fell madly in love with the bar manager!! That man has been my husband for the last 33 years! I also met some of my closest friends who I still see and keep up with regularly. While most of those were co-workers, a few were customers with whom I became good friends. That was the kind of place that Manuel’s was and has always been – warm and welcoming, supportive with a positive environment for the staff as well as the customers. We still go to Manuel’s. The food is just as good as it’s always been. The flautas are the best in town and the frozen margaritas are delicious!! The staff is just as friendly and the atmosphere is as inviting as always. I love Manuel’s!! And I’m so grateful that that bev-nap didn’t end up in the trash!! Thanks, Greg!!
