Manuels is more than just a restaurant to us. Jay, a native Austinite, dined at Manuels with his family growing up. Now, with our own family, we’ve been regular patrons of this northwest Austin gem since we moved to Great Hills in 2009 after our two kids were born. It’s our go-to place where we relax and connect, and where memories are made. Jay and I have celebrated countless weekly date nights, family dinners, happy hours with colleagues, birthdays, anniversaries, and larger family gatherings at Manuels. The sense of nostalgia and respite we associate with Manuels has made it one of our favorite restaurants in Austin. Manuels’ warm atmosphere, amazing food and drinks, and outstanding service have made it a cherished part of our lives for nearly two decades. One of the unique qualities of Manuels is its warm and inviting atmosphere. As you walk toward the entrance, a large live oak and ivy-covered pergola canopy the patio. Once inside, the familiar faces of the staff that welcomes us with a smile or by name make every visit an enjoyable experience. The menu at Manuels is a treasure of interior Mexico culinary delights. We have tried almost everything on the menu, with our go-to dishes alternating among the Chicken Fajitas, Lomo de Res, and the Chile Relleno en Nogada (or Chile Relleno del Mar; you can’t go wrong with either one). Hands down, Manuels makes the best Mexican Martinis in town and, possibly, in the country. On top of the food and drinks, the service at Manuel’s is top-notch. The waitstaff is personable and always makes sure we have a great dining experience. Manuels will continue to be our go-to destination for years to come.
